Lovely!

An absolutely charming, endearing film.

And so earnest; goshit's an absolute delight to see an earnest film these days, one in which people are good, in which there are no ulterior motives, in which someone is not lying in wait to harm another. It's just a flat-out coming of age love story. Pure and simple.

If you are Irish, of Irish ancestry, or enjoy any or all things Irish, well then, this film has got your name all over it. And if you are not, but possess a heart or romantic side, same deal: you should catch it if you can.

I wept on three occasions, as did everyone, and if the early scene in which a beautiful tenor crooning a melancholy ballad from the homeland doesn't bring you, too, to tears, well then, you are the Grinch incarnate, my friend, boasting a heart three sizes too small! (To be precise, it is "Casadh an Tsúgáin," aka "Frankie's Song," performed by Iarla Ó Lionáird if you wanna listen.)

This will be a possible game-changer for Atonement's Saoirse Ronan, who is absolutely radiant, her eyes as luminous as the emerald isle itself.

Maith sibh!
